You’re probably familiar with the gimp string technique. This is when you use a fine-toothed comb to remove the string from the inside of the toothpicks you are using to make s’mores.

In general, the most common way to get the gimp string is to try and eliminate every string that has a broken in the toothpicks. This is quite a complex technique that is useful to have in your arsenal.
I don’t think I’ve ever used a gimp string, but I’ve been toying with the idea that I may actually use it someday. I know it’s probably just a pipe dream, but I’ve heard that the gimp string technique is pretty effective. I just haven’t been able to find a dentist who would be willing to actually use a gimp string with me.
The more efficient way is to cut the string and glue it to a toothpick. (The one Ive used is usually made of styrofoam.) I think its pretty easy to do with your fingers.

I don’t know how long the string will last but you have to make sure you don’t run out of glue. You can also use it to attach a string of beads, but the string must be at least 1″ in length. I’ve also tried using it to attach a piece of yarn to a stick.
It is a very neat tool but I personally have never used it in a project like this. In fact, it is very difficult to use.
