Sometimes it is difficult to explain the intricacies of Asian culture (and parenting in general) to another person. One of the things that I’ve been challenged with in my previous job was the issue of “Asian mom and son” because of the culture of parents in Asia. Often, one parent will be “Asian” while the other is “Western”.
In the West, a lot of Asian parents find it difficult to be “Asian” and yet still provide a decent level of parenting. I dont think this is really an issue because the culture in Asia is different from the western culture and the parents are in general much more lenient. I think that this is a cultural issue that should be able to be discussed.
